Dear pupils, parents and teachers from Edinburgh's independent schools.
It's good to be back. As most of you will know, the Edinburgh Schools Advertiser took a break for more than a year but, as you can see, we are back in print once again. It has always been our aim to operate as a kind of link for Edinburgh's independent schools' sector, bringing parents, teachers and pupils from different schools together.
As usual we have focused on small classified advertisements - there is everything in this issue from polo tuition to a cot for sale - and holiday homes, which have always proved hugely popular. What we have found is that the classified advertising has proved particularly helpful for parents, teachers and pupils - but not just from within each school. Parents with children at one school have found buyers for 'once-worn now-outgrown' ski wear at another and pupils at other schools have found just the musical instrument they need from counterparts at another.
Now we are back we will now come out termly, rather than twice a year. The Edinburgh Schools Advertiser will appear quite soon after the start of each term. The Christmas Term edition will be a little later than that, just because of the long summer holiday, but roughly, our publication dates for the future will be: late September, January and early May.
From now on our classified section will be FREE, if you want to have a classified advertisement in the Edinburgh Schools Advertiser, just email it through (or put it in the post too) and it will go in absolutely FREE.
Don't forget the 'What's On' section of events from Edinburgh's schools. So if your school has an event such as fetes, fairs and charity concerts which you are keen to open out to a broader audience, particularly from the independent schools sector, just let us know for your FREE listing.
We do hope you appreciate this new edition of the Edinburgh Schools Advertiser. We shall start putting together the next one over the summer holidays so, if you have anything you want to sell, to buy, or to offer to others as a service, please let us know - remember classified ads are now FREE.
We believe that, as the credit crunch bites, families everywhere are looking for bargains wherever they can find them but particularly from people in the same position as themselves.
